Our Favourite Places for Coffee, Cake & Lunch Near Famau Cabins

One of the best parts of exploring North Wales? Finding somewhere lovely to stop for coffee, cake or a well-earned lunch along the way.

We’re lucky to have plenty of independent cafés and local businesses within easy reach of Famau Cabins. Whether you’ve just finished a walk around Loggerheads, you’re spending the afternoon exploring Ruthin or Mold, or the Welsh weather has convinced you that coffee and cake sounds much better than another few miles on foot, there’s always somewhere worth discovering.

So, we’ve gathered together seven of our favourite places for coffee, cake and lunch near Famau Cabins

Save this one for your next stay!

1. Ty’r Felin Cafe, Loggerheads Country Park

Ty’r Felin Cafe

Ty’r Felin Cafe Web Address: Loggerheads Country Park, Mold CH7 5LH, United Kingdom Phone: +441352743055

Perfect for: refuelling after a walk around Loggerheads

One of the newest additions to the local food scene, Ty’r Felin is right in the heart of Loggerheads Country Park and makes a natural stop before or after exploring its woodland and riverside walks.

The café is run by the team behind local producer Chilly Cow and serves drinks, cakes, savouries and lunch, with Chilly Cow ice cream naturally making an appearance too. There’s indoor and outdoor dining as well as a takeaway hatch, so it works particularly well when you’re making a day of exploring Loggerheads.

We love this one because you don’t have to choose between a day out and a café stop. Do both!

Make a day of it: Explore Loggerheads Country Park, follow one of the walking routes and finish with something tasty at Ty’r Felin.

2. Llanbenwch Cafe & Gift Shop, Llanfair Dyffryn Clwyd

Llanbenwch Cafe and Gift Shop

Perfect for: a relaxed countryside breakfast, coffee or light lunch

If you’re looking for something that feels very at home alongside a stay at Famau Cabins, Llanbenwch is a lovely option.

Set in the countryside near Ruthin, its onsite café serves fresh coffee and hot drinks alongside breakfast, light lunches, snacks and cakes. There’s also a shop selling Welsh and local produce, including essentials such as milk, cheese, crackers and cakes. (Llanbenwch Caravan Park North Wales

That makes it a handy stop if you’re heading out for the day and fancy picking up a few local treats at the same time.

Why visit: Rural setting, simple food, Welsh produce and a relaxed atmosphere. Very much our kind of place.

3. Café R at Ruthin Craft Centre

Cafe R

Cafe R Web Address: Craft Centre, Lôn Parcwr, Ruthin LL15 1BB, United Kingdom Phone: +441824774889

Perfect for: coffee and lunch combined with a Ruthin day out

If you’re planning to explore Ruthin, we’d definitely suggest adding Café R to the itinerary.

Located inside Ruthin Craft Centre, it’s recently refurbished and serves a locally sourced menu alongside coffee and cake. Its Sunday roast is also something of a signature. (ruthincraftcentre.org.uk

The big USP here is the location. You can spend some time exploring the exhibitions and contemporary craft at Ruthin Craft Centre before sitting down for lunch or coffee.

It’s particularly good for those slightly drizzly Welsh days when you’d like somewhere interesting to explore indoors!

Why visit: Art, craft, locally sourced food and cake all under one roof.

It’s a cosy, characterful café with an emphasis on rustic, home-cooked food. The menu celebrates classic Welsh dishes alongside some more contemporary influences, and the café also offers Welsh afternoon tea. (caffircob.co.uk

There’s a strong community feel to the place too, making it a nice spot to slow down with a proper coffee while exploring the town.

Although it now has locations across the North, The Coffee House remains independently owned. Its story began with two brothers opening their first shop in Lymm in 2011, and the business now roasts its own coffee, bakes cakes and prepares fresh food for its stores. (Coffee House

The menu covers everything from breakfast and pastries to paninis, cakes and hot and cold drinks, so it’s a useful all-rounder when different people in your group fancy different things. (Coffee House

Why visit: A comfortable, convenient High Street stop with house-roasted coffee, freshly made food and plenty of choice.

Make Food Part of the Adventure

One of the things we always encourage guests to do is leave a little space in the itinerary

You don’t need to rush from one North Wales attraction to another.

Spend the morning walking. Find somewhere local for lunch. Wander around Mold or Ruthin. Stop for cake simply because it looks good.

Supporting independent cafés, shops, pubs and producers is also a lovely way to experience more of the area you’re visiting.

And then, of course, you can head back to Famau Cabins, put your feet up and finish the day in the hot tub.

Sounds pretty good to us.

Top Tips for Eating Out During Your Stay

1. Check Opening Times Before Travelling

Independent cafés can have seasonal opening hours, so check their website or socials on the day you plan to visit.

2. Build Your Stop Around Your Day Out

Pair Ty’r Felin with Loggerheads, Café R with Ruthin Craft Centre, or one of our Mold recommendations with a few hours exploring the town.

3. Don’t Forget the Village Shop

For picnic supplies and cabin essentials, our local village shop is within walking distance.

4. Mix Eating Out with Eating In

All three Famau Cabins have their own kitchens, so there’s no need to eat out for every meal. Pick up some local ingredients and enjoy a slow breakfast or dinner back at the cabin.
